Aoyama Mee ("we", "us"; a sole proprietor based in Japan — the operator's legal name is disclosed without undue delay by email on request, as stated in our Legal notice under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions) sets out below how user information is handled in "Aoyama Shrine Coin Toss" and the other games and tools published on aoyamamee.com (the "Service"). The Service is a work of fiction set at an imaginary shrine and has no connection with any real shrine, religious body or religious activity.

1. Information we collect

If you use the Service without creating an account, we do not collect personal information such as your name or address. Your game progress (the balance of any paid offering credit you have purchased, merit points, level, remaining uses of purchased content and so on) is stored only in your own device (browser storage) and is not sent to our servers — unless you choose to use the optional account feature ("Ujiko registration"; see section 3-2). Because of this, if you clear your browser data or cache, all of this information — including any paid credit balance — is permanently lost and cannot be restored. See Article 5 of the Terms of Service for details.

2. Payment information

Payments for paid content are made on payment pages operated by Stripe (Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates). Card numbers and other payment credentials are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we never receive or store them. Please refer to Stripe's own privacy policy for how they handle your information.

In order to respond to enquiries about payments, we may view transaction information (date and time, amount, email address and similar) through the Stripe dashboard. We use that information only to perform the contract, to answer your enquiry, and to meet our legal obligations.

3. Cookies used for analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics (GA4) as an analytics tool to improve the Service. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect access information (pages viewed, referrer, browser type, approximate region and so on). This information is collected anonymously and does not identify you personally. We have IP anonymisation enabled. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, no analytics data is sent. You may also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. For how Google uses data, see Google's policies and terms.

The Service may display advertising served by third parties such as Google AdSense. These providers may use cookies (including DoubleClick cookies) to serve personalised advertising based on your previous visits to this and other websites.

You can turn off personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and from other third-party providers at aboutads.info. See Google's advertising policies for how Google handles advertising cookies.

If you access the Service from the EEA or the United Kingdom, analytics and advertising cookies are set only after you give consent through our consent management platform. You can withdraw or change that consent at any time from the consent banner.

The Service is not directed at a specific age group. For users aged 13 to under 18, Google may automatically restrict personalised advertising under its policies on advertising to minors.

3-2. Ujiko registration (data stored on our server)

If you use the optional data-transfer feature ("Ujiko registration"), we collect and store the following on our servers (infrastructure provided by Cloudflare).

We do not use this information for any purpose other than those stated above, and we do not provide it to third parties except as required by law. If you ask us to disclose, correct, suspend the use of, or delete your data, we will respond within a reasonable period after confirming your member code through the contact address below. You can change your display name and email address at any time from the member screen in the game (the member code itself cannot be changed). Your PIN is stored as a hash and never in plain text. To prevent abusive mass registration, we also record a hashed value of your IP address for a limited time when you register. To have your server-side data deleted (account closure), please contact us with your member code.

3-3. Use of IP addresses to prevent abuse

To prevent abuse such as repeatedly claiming free credit (the first-visit bonus and the registration bonus) or mass-creating accounts, our server (Cloudflare Workers) records a SHA-256 hash of the source IP address, computed with a secret pepper, together with the time of access, and uses it to count occurrences. We never store the IP address itself, and we never store these values linked to information that identifies you, such as a name or email address.

Retention is limited to what each check requires:

In addition, to reduce fraudulent card use through rapidly repeated payments, a history of the number and amount of your payments is kept inside your own browser for up to 32 days and used to apply per-payment, per-day and per-month limits. This history is never sent to our servers.

4. Provision to third parties

We do not provide information about users to third parties except where required by law.

4-2. Transfers of personal data to third parties outside Japan

To operate the Service we entrust the handling of personal data to the following providers, whose servers may be located outside Japan.

ProviderPurposeCountry
Google LLCAnalytics (GA4), advertising, sending confirmation emailUnited States
Cloudflare, Inc.Servers and database (storage of member data)United States
Stripe, Inc.Payment processingUnited States
Ko-fi Labs Ltd.Receiving support (tips) from outside JapanUnited Kingdom

For an overview of the data protection regimes of these countries, please see the surveys published by Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission. Each provider maintains safeguards for personal data under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or a data processing agreement (DPA).

If you do not use Ujiko registration, no personal data of yours is stored on our servers, apart from the hashed IP values described in section 3-3.

4-3. Information for people in the EEA and the United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

We are a sole proprietor based in Japan, but the Service is accessible from the EEA and the UK, so the following applies to people in those regions.

5. Contact

For questions about this policy or about how we handle user information, please contact us at:

6. Changes

We may revise this policy as necessary. If we make an important change, we will announce it within the Service.
